About Polyglyceryl-2 Sesquioleate

Polyglyceryl-2 Sesquioleate

Polyglyceryl-2 Sesquioleate is a naturally derived, PEG-free emulsifier produced by esterifying diglycerin with oleic acid in an average 2:3 molar ratio, yielding a pale-yellow viscous liquid with an HLB around 4. In skincare formulations it acts primarily as a water-in-oil emulsifier and co-emulsifier, reducing interfacial tension to create stable, spreadable, non-greasy emulsions while enhancing sensory profile and fast absorption. Its amphiphilic structure also supports mild surfactancy and selective antimicrobial activity against gram-positive bacteria, contributing to product preservation and suitability for sensitive or acne-prone skin types. Typical use levels range from 0.5–4% depending on formulation needs.
